Currently, the only way to test (or use) the twitter API is with creating a twitter account and authorize the app on that account.
However, we have recently encountered an issue with the dev account being suspended (I presume for not unlocking it with a phone number after a while?). The account rarely posted anything and doesn't follow or perform any spam actions, it was mostly for reading data (dev purposes).
Ideally, developers should specify dev accounts associated with their app, so twitter can clearly identify them as being automated, and not suspend them for being automated!1 vote
Once i have created my "production" app it would be cool to create a "developing" app alongside the production app. For sure with different key/secret, but more as a combination of those two.
This will help to refer to the same "Authentication settings", except the callback urls.2 votes
Please insert an entry reserved for those who view the tweets of the personal file, without having to follow the account for the other party.
Twitter could include a tool in the developer portal that enables developers to monitor and manage usage across the different APIs, and helps them avoid unexpected rate limiting.16 votes
We are planning to add additional usage metrics to the developer portal for some of our newer products soon
